Ilifted my suitcase over and followed suit.　　The bus was entirely empty.　　That was to be expected, as the dock was the starting point.　　The bus was quite old. I suddenly stopped while walking down the aisle. There was a bright, big hole through which I could see the ground. I had to edge past timidly, keeping close to the seats, until I neared the last row.　　Except for those at the back, all the seats were in bad condition and were covered with dust as if no one had sat on them for a long time.　　"Whyisn't such a broken vehicle condemned?" I whispered discontentedly.　　However, I had no other choice. It was still a long way from Peri Lake Town. If I tried to walk, I might not get there until midnight. That might be fine ifl wasn't carrying anything, but not with a tiring suitcase.　　I turned my face to the window in a fit of pique.　　……
